"My son admitted that if he had seen that book in print that he would’ve never made the deal with me. He said there was no way he would’ve even cracked the cover."
There I sat in the waiting room, all high-and-mighty, and relishing the fact that my kid was the oldest in a room knee-deep in screams, Cheerios, and snot. Don’t get me wrong, I actually love babies — as long as they’re someone else’s.
I eyed the jogging stroller in the corner and thought of how many miles I must’ve put ours through in one month alone. That overly-priced, easy-to-fold-my-foot monstrosity with the CD player — it had all the bells and whistles money could buy. Bells and whistles that were supposed to make life more enjoyable (or at least more tolerable) for baby and mommy — that’s if you could ...
As followers of Christ, we walk a path of progression rather than a path of perfection. Some of us move along the path faster than others, but that shouldn’t be discouraging.
What’s important is that we’re able to see our lives, little by little, taking on that of His image. We can see how God is transforming us into who He wants us to be through obedience to Him and our dying to self.
Moving from a babe in Christ to that of a mature Christian doesn’t happen overnight, but here are 10 distinctive signs you’re making progress and maturing in your walk with God....
Just because the enemy himself isn’t visible it doesn’t mean he’s fictional. His manifestation is all around us as we war our way through the day.

Let’s face it—with all the hard and scary stuff going on around us, we may find ourselves waking up anxious and discouraged and going to bed the same way. As bad as that is, it also puts us at risk of damaging our witness for Christ in our day-to-day dealings with others. That’s because, as humans, we often allow our feelings to dictate most of our actions.
We’ll now plan a future of putting the time and effort into our dream family as opposed to our dream home.
Even though life and the things of this world are but vapors, the values, morals, time, and memories I instill in my son and share with those I love will last for generations to come. This means that I’m committed to a life of faithful obedience that is focused on eternal and not external, temporal things.
Whatever it is that’s weighing heavy on your mind and heart, whatever it is that has caused you to doubt His plan, whatever it is that has allowed the enemy to take hold of your mind and steal your peace, take it to Him in prayer.
Earnestly pour out your heart to Him. Trust that He knows your every need and is able to deliver you, comfort you, and provide for you in a way that no other can.
I’m not sure if I’ve had a demotion or a promotion. Some days are filled with trepidation at the thought of receiving my pink slip. No matter how I look at it, my job has changed. Long gone are the days when I had to do everything for him. Now, it’s my job to equip him. So even though I’d love for him to just be a carefree tween while the rest of us “old folks” do the heavy lifting, I don’t want him to grow up to be a moocher, have a sense of entitlement, or have to pay someone to change a light bulb!
What if you awoke tomorrow morning with only the things you thanked God for today? Would that change how you prayed today?
I think most of us would agree that life is busier than it’s ever been. With all the rushing and doing, it’s easy to grumble and complain. It can become the new norm if we’re not diligently seeking to live with a grateful heart.
For the next 30 days, let’s break the cycle and challenge ourselves to purposefully set aside time to show our gratitude for all our Father has done and will do in our lives.
My joy, my gratefulness, and my focus got lost somewhere in the noise and chaos of the moment.
Oh, how many times I’m guilty of succumbing to my feelings based on my current circumstances, allowing the enemy to distract me from what’s really important, and forgetting that my God is always working behind the scenes, even when it seems like it’s taking forever. (Even when others are the first to get what I want or need.)
There are steps The Healer would have us take to partner with Him in our recovery and restoration. Yes, sometimes God chooses to work a miracle in our lives, healing us immediately of the pain and completely shutting up our wounds for good. It can happen!
However, for many of us, spiritual healing will be a process. And, honestly, it wouldn’t be fair of me to tell you that these three steps are easy-peasy, that healing will happen overnight, or that you’ll never receive any more wounds.
That led to a life of fear and anxiety, defeat, and self-deprecation. Even though I knew God and His love for me, there was a disconnect. I didn’t link His love for me with His power that was made available to me.
